Welcome! I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at Emory University in Atlanta, GA, and a Faculty Research Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research.
My research areas include history, labour, and education. I use tools from these disciplines to better understand the persistence of socioeconomic inequalities between groups in North America with a particular focus on skill accumulation and discrimination. I can be reached via email at maggie.ec.jones [at] gmail.com.
I acknowledge the Muscogee (Creek) and Cherokee peoples who lived, worked, produced knowledge on, and nurtured the land where I live and work and who were displaced through violence and governmental policies in the 1830s.
